Me (thinking that nobody was listening): I am Voldemort’s baby.

I babysat a 5 year-old today and while eating his dinner, he looked at me and asked, “Would you want to stay a kid forever? And why?” I told him, “Sure why not?! I wouldn’t have to live with responsibilities, not look for a job, have a bit of freedom. Why would you?” He answered, “Yeah. If I’m a kid it means I can dream.” I expected him to answer differently, and tell me that he’d be a kid to always have toys, and always watch TV, but never did I expect him to say that. I asked him what he meant by that and he told me that if he’s a kid, then he wouldn’t have to feel the pain that everyone else feels when they’ve grown up. That the idea of crying over love doesn’t exist and only over cuts and bruises or when someone steals your crayons. I looked at him and asked him where he learned all these things from and he told me that he learned them from seeing his brother and sister try to grow up so fast. I didn’t know what to tell him but to cherish his childhood for as long as he can because you can only be a kid once. He smiled at me and asked if I wanted to build his world out of leggo where everyone was just a kid.
